Embedded Software Test Engineer - Vehicle Systems

Overview

We are seeking an Embedded Software Test Engineer to validate vehicle software and integrated systems throughout the product development lifecycle. This role supports the planning, preparation, execution, analysis, and documentation of testing activities for embedded vehicle features and software releases within an Agile development environment.

The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, investigate, and validate software and system issues while supporting both manual and automated testing efforts. This position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to evolving technologies and development priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Validate vehicle software and integrated systems against functional, quality, performance, and customer requirements.
  • Plan, prepare, execute, analyze, and document software testing activities.
  • Develop and execute functional test scenarios using Agile user stories and sprint requirements.
  • Collaborate with development teams to understand testing requirements.
  • Review project requirements to ensure they are testable.
  • Prepare test benches, vehicles, tools, and software required for testing.
  • Record test results, document defects, and perform root cause analysis.
  • Reproduce and troubleshoot software and system defects with engineering teams.
  • Participate in hardware and software root cause investigations.
  • Support system design, documentation, and testing activities.
  • Maintain laboratory hardware and testing environments.
  • Analyze software failures and support validation for both manual and automated testing.
  • Contribute to test automation enhancements and validation of new vehicle features.
  • Identify opportunities to improve testing processes and execution efficiency.
  • Utilize test management tools for planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Produce detailed defect reports and testing documentation.
  • Develop Python scripts to collect, clean, analyze, and report vehicle or fleet data.
  • Build simple software tools and dashboards to improve operational efficiency.
  • Integrate data from approved internal portals, databases, and APIs.
  • Test dashboards and software tools to validate data accuracy and functionality.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
