Are you a seasoned Electrical Engineer excited to solve real-world challenges, lead and develop a talented group of engineers and technicians?

The Industrial Equipment Division of Miller Electric is seeking a driven Senior Electrical Engineer who is dedicated to revolutionizing products through new product development. In this role, you'll collaborate with cross functional engineering teams, operations, materials, customer support, applications, and marketing to drive innovation in the welding industry and all it impacts.  Additionally, you will lead, mentor, and develop a talented team of diverse electrical engineers and technicians.

What you will focus on in the Sr. Electrical Engineering role: 

  • Design, develop, prototype, test and maintain systems including microcontrollers, microprocessors, and circuits for embedded controls
  • Effectively collaborate with other electrical, software, mechanical, and welding engineers to design welding products. 
  • Involvement in electrical hardware product support activities including circuit analysis, component selection, qualification testing, troubleshooting, reliability testing, third-party compliance testing and documentation.
  • Participate in project meetings and be responsible for assigned action items and project deliverables.
  • Team Mentorship: Manage and coach engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and support.
  • Process Improvement: Drive urgency and accountability within your team to meet divisional goals.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with Engineering Manager and Project Manager to ensure projects and tasks are staffed according to meet objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • 5+ years’ experience developing solutions for industrial markets.
  • Indirect leadership of team members, skilled at mentoring, coaching and motivating engineers and technicians.
  • Monitor new product development projects and resources to obtain goals.
  • Experience in controls and mixed-signal design
  • Experience with embedded microcontroller designs
  • Proficiency with hardware and software design activities including system architecture, component selection, schematic capture and PCB troubleshooting, compliance testing and documentation, and manufacturing support
  • Experience with circuit modeling/simulation tools
  • Experience with communications hardware platforms such as: Ethernet, USB, CAN, RS-485
  • Understanding of PCB layout and PCB manufacturing processes

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 7+ years of industry experience
  • Leading and managing direct reports
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team of engineers in a common function
  • Experience designing single and multi-processor industrial control-based solutions, ideally STM32 based targets.
  • Experience designing and testing to 3rd party (UL/CSA/CE) standards 
  • Knowledge of insulation requirements between circuits (materials, creepage, clearance, dielectric strength) 
  • Experience in mixed-signal embedded hardware design including signal conditioning for high-speed/precision signals in a power conversion setting, signaling across multiple insulation boundaries
  • Knowledge of PCB layout considerations for switch mode power supplies
  • Working knowledge of power conversion control systems
