Job Duties
  • Execute and support quality assurance efforts to ensure high-performing, reliable software systems.
  • Design, develop, and execute test cases across multiple testing types, including functional, integration, regression, performance, and UAT.
  • Implement and maintain test strategies, including automated regression testing for critical systems.
  • Collaborate with developers, product owners, and cross-functional teams to align testing with business goals.
  • Identify, document, and manage defects, ensuring timely resolution and accurate reporting.
  • Contribute to test automation efforts and continuous improvement of QA processes and frameworks.
  • Support testing from usability, troubleshooting, and performance perspectives.
  • Assist with test planning, scheduling, and execution for projects of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Participate in secure design reviews and help prepare applications for security testing.
  • Identify and help mitigate security vulnerabilities to ensure system integrity.
  • Leverage AI-assisted tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to enhance testing activities, including test case generation, defect analysis, and documentation.
  • Support database-related activities such as installations, upgrades, and schema changes as needed.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Petroleum Engineering, Geoscience, or a related field required; Masters is a plus.
  • 4+ years of experience in software QA, testing, or development (level based on experience).
  • Experience in upstream Oil & Gas environments or with well planning applications is preferred.
  • Understanding of drilling and completions workflows (e.g., well construction, fluids management, performance monitoring) is a plus.
  • ISTQB or similar certification is preferred but not required.

Technical Skills & Experience
  • Experience with core software testing methodologies (functional, integration, regression, performance, UAT).
  • Experience working in Agile environments and with tools such as (e.g., Azure DevOps)
  • Exposure to test automation tools and frameworks.
  • Experience with databases such as Oracle and SQL Server is required.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), including environment setup, application deployment, and basic service management.
  • Experience with EDT engineering applications suite (e.g., OpenWells, WellPlan, Compass) or EDT is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Candidates having qualifications that exceed the minimum job requirements will receive consideration for higher level roles given (1) their experience, (2) additional job requirements, and/or (3) business needs. Depending on education, experience, and skill level, a variety of job opportunities might be available including Senior Software QA and Principal Software QA.
