York’s complete Space Segment Solution includes spacecraft production, payload integration, system integration & test, launch services, ground segment services, and mission operations, enabling customers to leverage York’s existing technology solutions to get to orbit rapidly and responsively. We’re looking to expand our team across the board.

We’relooking for a passionate candidate with an Aerospace and Software background to expand our Simulation, Integration, and Test (SIT) team. The SIT department plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful deployment and operation of satellites by providing support to critical areas: Flight Software, Ground Software, Vehicle Test, and Mission Operations. The department collaborates with engineering teams to develop andmaintainmodern software engineering solutions that lead to mission success. Additionally, it employs rigorous testing processes tovalidatehardware and software, minimizing risks prior to launch. On the ground, the department supports the seamless operation of ground software systems for satellite communication, monitoring, and control,facilitatingreal-time data analysis and mission management. Together, these efforts ensure that satellites are properly launched, placed into orbit, andoperatedefficiently, supporting a range of applications for our customers.

The ideal candidate will act as the critical interface between developers and our internal customers. They will be working across engineering teams to help integrate and test mission-critical software.

Responsibilities

  • Develop automated tests with guidance from leadership and senior engineers
  • Translate high-level designs and requirements intohigh qualitycode
  • Interact with other York departments to support testingusingSIT products
  • Support test-like-you-fly, test-driven development for spacecraft flight software, ground software, and space vehicle integration
  • Write and execute test plan documents and use cases with collaboration from other York developers
  • Perform troubleshooting and debugging of SIT tests and infrastructure
  • Follow coding contribution standards and agile development practices
  • Create/maintaindocumentation and user guides
  • Contribute to andmaintainCI/CD pipelines
  • Communicate complex topics to non-technical audiences

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 0-2 years of experience in Software Engineering, Software Systems Engineering, or related field
  • Demonstratedproficiencywith Python
  • Demonstratedproficiencywith Git andmodern dayAgile software development practices & tools
  • Demonstratedproficiencyworking in a Linux environment
  • Demonstratedproficiencywith bash scripting
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and using them for development
  • Familiar with writing test documentation, such as test plans, procedures, and reports
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks while delivering according to program milestones and deliverables
  • Can proactivelyidentifyproblems and communicate them clearly to leadership and/or more senior engineers
  • Proficient at technical documentation
  • Self-starterwith the ability to pick up new concepts quickly

  • Experience with Docker, Docker Compose, & containerization
  • Experience with frontend automation software such as Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, etc.

  • Experience with Hardware in the loop test systems
  • Experience in testing and validation of satellite subsystems
  • Experience with UI/UX testing
