Job Description:

We are seeking a System Test Manager to lead a team of engineers responsible for software quality assurance across our HPE X10000 MP platform. This role carries significant impact within the Hybrid Cloud business unit, driving test strategy, product quality, and engineering scaling efficiencies. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with deep experience in storage and systems environments, a proven track record of managing QA teams, and the ability to influence product roadmap delivery while mentoring and growing a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and ongoing leadership for a team of individual contributors designing, developing, and coordinating systems software projects, including operating systems, compilers, networking, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools.
  • Manage headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring resources are appropriately allocated and that goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with program and organizational roadmaps.
  • Plan, document, design, and execute software test strategies for the HPE X10000 MP platform, including coordination with development, New Product Introduction (NPI), Manufacturing, product management, and support teams.
  • Influence, commit, and deliver on product roadmap projects and initiatives while driving scaling efficiencies in engineering across products, processes, and resources.
  • Manage relationships with outsourced partners and suppliers, setting expectations regarding deliverables, product quality, schedules, and costs, and ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Provide people-care management for assigned team members, including hiring, setting and monitoring annual performance plans, coaching, career development, and retaining and scaling the organization for future growth.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction and communicate project status and escalate issues to direct managers, program managers, and internal and external development partners.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Networking, or related field
  • Typically, 8+ years of experience in storage, networking, scalability, and/or systems environments.
  • Typically, 3+ years of people management experience with QA teams (preferred)
  • Experience managing high-caliber engineers with a hands-on, strong technical background.
  • Strong understanding of QA and release processes, including writing and execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools.
  • Extensive experience with multiple software quality assurance tools and processes.
  • Comfortable working in Linux, Windows, and Kubernetes environments with strong working knowledge of Python and GitHub Copilot.
  • Solid understanding of block, unstructured object, and file system storage concepts, as well as networking knowledge in areas such as TCP/IP and networking infrastructure.
