Job description

What to Expect

As a Concrete Finishing Lead, you will lead finishing operations on job sites throughout the region. This is an 90% travel-based position with all work occurring on the road. Projects typically last 3 to 7 weeks and are executed by cross-functional teams of 2 to 5 members handling all trades collectively. You will push the limits of concrete finishing technology and techniques, providing direct feedback to design engineers, project managers, and business developers on program improvements.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and mentor a small team of concrete finishers and laborers, assigning finishing tasks and ensuring high productivity and quality during the critical finishing phase
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute concrete finishing processes (troweling, floating, edging, texturing, sealing) for flatwork including sidewalks, ramps, slabs, curbs, and other surfaces
  • Ensure strict adherence to project specifications, blueprints, ADA compliance requirements (e.g., max 2% cross-slope, 8.33% ramp slope, non-slip broom/grooved finishes, detectable warnings), and safety protocols
  • Inspect finished concrete for quality, flatness, texture, and compliance; identify and resolve defects, imperfections, or non-compliant areas promptly
  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, other trades, and stakeholders to meet deadlines, budgets, and accessibility standards
  • Maintain inventory of finishing tools, materials (e.g., curing compounds, sealers), and equipment; ensure proper usage, storage, and site cleanliness
  • Enforce safety regulations, conduct regular site inspections, and mitigate hazards during finishing operations
What You'll Bring
  • Proven experience as a Concrete Finishing Lead, Senior Concrete Finisher, or similar role with a focus on high-quality flatwork finishing
  • Strong expertise in concrete finishing techniques (smoothing, troweling, floating, edging, brooming, sealing, stamping, and repair/resurfacing)
  • Demonstrated experience with ADA-compliant flatwork, including ramps, sidewalks, detectable warning surfaces, precise slope control (e.g., 2% cross-slope, 1:12 ramp max), non-slip textures, and accessibility standards
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and ADA specifications
  • Leadership skills with experience guiding small finishing crews on-site and mentoring team members
  • Familiarity with construction safety, compliance, and quality control standards
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail abilities
  • Physical stamina for demanding outdoor work, long hours, and travel
