Job description

Mallory Safety & Supply is looking for a motivated, relationship-driven Territory Manager to join our growing sales team and support customers throughout California's Central Valley!
For more than 40 years, Mallory Safety & Supply has helped industrial organizations protect their people and improve their operations through best-in-class safety products, services, and expertise. Today, we are one of the largest independently owned safety distributors in the country, with locations nationwide and a team of more than 600 employees.
We're proud to be a private, family-owned company where relationships matter, great ideas are encouraged, and our employees have the opportunity to make a real impact.
About the Opportunity
Based out of our Modesto branch, this Territory Manager will primarily support customers throughout San Joaquin and Stanislaus Counties, with additional opportunities extending west into areas such as Livermore and Pleasanton.
We're looking for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset who is excited by the opportunity to take ownership of a territory and make it their own. The right person will be naturally curious, proactive, and motivated to get out into the market - building relationships, uncovering customer needs, opening new doors, and finding creative ways to grow the business. Rather than waiting for opportunities to come to them, they'll enjoy creating those opportunities themselves.
This role offers the independence to manage your territory like your own business, while still having the resources, expertise, and support of Mallory's Modesto branch and broader team behind you. Success will come from developing strong relationships with existing customers while actively pursuing new opportunities across industrial, municipal, safety, instrumentation, and service-related business.
What You'll Do
As a Territory Manager, you'll take ownership of your territory while having the support of our Modesto team, supplier partners, and specialists throughout Mallory. Your focus will be both strengthening existing customer relationships and developing new business.
You will:
  • Manage and grow relationships with existing customers throughout the assigned territory
  • Prospect for new municipal and industrial customers and identify opportunities to expand Mallory's presence in the market
  • Develop new business across Mallory's safety product and service offerings
  • Identify opportunities to grow our service business, including introducing customers to Mallory's service capabilities and connecting them with the appropriate internal resources
  • Learn customers' operations, challenges, and safety needs and recommend solutions that provide meaningful value
  • Develop a strategic territory plan and independently manage customer visits, prospecting, follow-up, and account development
  • Build relationships with decision-makers at multiple levels within customer organizations
  • Partner with Mallory's product specialists, service teams, suppliers, and Modesto branch employees to develop comprehensive customer solutions
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations tailored to customer needs and opportunities
  • Monitor market conditions, competitive activity, pricing, and industry trends throughout the territory
  • Resolve customer questions and concerns by coordinating with internal teams and following issues through to resolution
  • Maintain accurate sales activity, opportunity, and territory information
  • Continue developing product and industry knowledge through supplier partnerships, training, and professional development
  • Manage and support Onsite Associates assigned to customer locations within the territory, as applicable

What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is naturally motivated to build relationships, find opportunities, and grow a business.
Our ideal candidate will bring:
  • Previous sales, account management, customer service, or business development experience or a strong interest in beginning a career in outside sales
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A self-motivated, proactive approach and comfort working independently
  • Curiosity and a willingness to learn technical products, services, and customer applications
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-first mindset
  • The ability to develop new relationships while maintaining and growing established accounts
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and other business software
  • A valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly throughout the assigned

Experience with industrial safety, instrumentation, industrial distribution, manufacturing, municipal customers, or related industries is a plus, but not required.
A bachelor's degree is preferred, but we value relevant experience, aptitude, and motivation just as highly.
Why Mallory?
At Mallory, our Territory Managers have the opportunity to truly own their business. You'll have an established customer base to build from, significant opportunity to develop new accounts, and the support of an experienced local branch and broader organization behind you.
Benefits include:
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid holidays
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Supplemental benefits, including life and accident insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Employee Referral Bonus Program
  • Flexible scheduling and opportunities for remote work
  • A private, family-owned company with a collaborative, people-focused culture
  • Ongoing product and industry training
  • Opportunities to grow your career as Mallory continues to expand

If you're energized by meeting people, building relationships, solving customer problems, and developing a territory you can take pride in, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply today with your resume to be considered for our Territory Manager team!
