Job description

Join Terracon as a Senior Client Development Manager in our Gulf Coast Division and take on a pivotal leadership role in a 100% employee-owned, rapidly growing firm dedicated to advancing the communities we serve. This position offers the opportunity to shape client development strategy, lead major pursuits, and build lasting partnerships across the full project lifecycle, while helping bring Terracon's vision to life as a trusted, forward-thinking partner. As a key leader, you will influence company business development strategy, lead client development teams, and drive transformational growth.
 

This position may be based out of any Terracon office located within the Gulf Coast Division, which include Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Louisianna, and Tennessee.  
 

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Senior Client Development professional with a strong background in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (A/E/C) or Environmental Consulting industries. This position is responsible for developing and executing proactive client development strategies that position Terracon for success across all phases of the client lifecycle, including:
    Site Selection & Due Diligence
    Design & Permitting
    Construction
    Facility/Operations Management
 

This role will support growth across all four of Terracon's core service lines (Environmental, Facilities, Geotechnical, and Materials) by proactively cultivating new client relationships within the Gulf Coast Division and strengthening existing partnerships. The successful candidate will identify and pursue strategic opportunities critical to Terracon's continued growth, while providing division-level leadership and mentorship in client development. General responsibilities include facilitating strategic planning sessions, guiding business growth strategies, leading client engagement efforts, leading major pursuits, and tracking key market and performance metrics. The ideal candidate would have background in Environmental Consulting, to align with one of Terracon's largest growth opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related degree and 15 years' related experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 19 years' related experience.
  • Must have A/E/C or Environmental Consulting industry experience to be considered for this position.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.

Preferred Certification:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM).
  • Past technical experience in A/E/C or Environmental Consulting fields.
     
  • Provide client development leadership within the Gulf Coast Division, including evaluating key market information, identifying opportunities, developing strategies, and managing key client relationships.
  • Manage and mentor a team that includes client development specialists and client development managers.
  • Leverage business intelligence and market analytics tools to support strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Gulf Coast Division Leadership to develop and track client and business development plans and performance goals.
  • Lead Major Pursuits process in Gulf Coast Division, from strategy development and positioning to opportunity capture.
  • Partner with management and key technical staff across the Gulf Coast Division to successfully execute client development and business growth plans.
  • Coordinate with Corporate Marketing, National Account Managers and National Strategic Sector leads on client development strategy, alignment with company growth strategy, major pursuits, and driving business growth.
  • Emphasize strategic growth of Environmental Service Line, with a focus on Major Pursuits and building client relationships and program management opportunities for services in the Facility/Operations Management phase of the lifecycle. 
  • Identify and participate in high-opportunity trade shows/conferences and government, industry, professional, and technical events that align with client development strategy.
  • Oversee and regularly reports client development results, including pursuits, proposals, key wins/loses, and industry activities.
  • Establish and foster strong relationships to ensure an excellent client experience for both internal and external clients.
  • Ensure consistent messaging that aligns with the company brand and showcase the value delivered to clients.
  • Report directly to the SVP of Operations for the Gulf Coast Division and routinely engage with senior leadership across the division to achieve client development and business growth goals.
  • Support key technical staff in conducting business development, including development of consultative sales skills and strategies.
