Job description

Job Description Bulkmatic is hiring a Terminal Manager for our Chicago Heights, IL terminal. This position is responsible for all operational aspects of the terminal including a dual served railyard and warehousing operations. We are seeking an experienced manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our facility. You will be responsible for leading a team to meet operational targets while maintaining the highest standards in safety and quality.
The Terminal Manager reports directly to the Regional Terminal Operations Director. Job Requirements
  1. Manage the day to day operations of the facilities.
    • Responsible for ensuring work schedules and workloads are assigned effectively in order to maintain uninterrupted service to our customers.
    • Will interact and address all elevated customer related issues, problems and/or discrepancies.
    • Proactively pursues logical, safe and efficient solutions to assist in the growth and success of the operations.
  2. Oversee Terminal Employees including Administrator(s), Drivers, Warehouse personnel, Loaders, Mechanics and staff.
    • Including oversight of employees working at offsite locations.
    • Responsible for hiring, training, coaching, disciplining and supervising all direct reports.
    • Promotes the knowledge and effectiveness of staff members to ensure terminal practices, policies and procedures are understood and executed in compliance with customer and company standards.
  3. Oversee employee safety, satisfaction and performance.
    • Responsible for complying with and ensuring compliance with all safety-related requirements (including the use of required safety equipment), timely addressing and documentation of performance discrepancies and resolving and/or elevating employee concerns as appropriate.
    • Operates in a manner that is consistent with safe operations and complies with safety rules. Promoting clean and safe working conditions.
  4. Complete required data elements.
    • Analyze operations data and reports to promote terminal efficiency.
    • Communicate and collaborate with other company terminals and departments to ensure necessary paperwork, documents and information are processed and distributed to ensure seamless operational effectiveness.
  5. Represent the Company and Carry Out Duties in a Professional Manner.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Must have at least 4 years of management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Must be able to comprehend and comply with policies and comprehend instructions.
  • Must have excellent computer and typing skills, specifically Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and be able to move vehicles from time to time.
  • Must be motivated and able to work independently to complete assignments.
  • Must be able to wear and use required safety equipment.
  • May be required to perform physical work on occasion and/or for extended periods of time, including: walking/standing, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, squatting, kneeling, climbing, etc.
  • Must have manual dexterity to operate any controls and or equipment.
  • May be required to climb trailers if necessary and be comfortable with heights.
  • Must be able to perform required tasks outside in various weather conditions.
  • Will comply with all company rules & regulations.
  • Will comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
