Job description

The Mechanical Foreman is responsible for guiding and directing mechanical maintenance technicians on daily activities. Interface with outside contractors on equipment repairs and request for information resolution. Communicate effectively with internal customers and outside service provides/suppliers. Provide maintenance services to internal customers. Execute site preventative maintenance activities. Support capital construction and commissioning activities.

  • Estimate small projects
  • Complete work orders
  • Plan, execute and record periodic maintenance and repair on terminal mechanical equipment in computerized maintenance program.
  • Monitor and ensure PM schedule compliance.
  • Assign daily job duties to Mechanical Technicians.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on terminal equipment.
  • Assist with interface to CAPEX projects as needed.
  • Evaluate Mechanical Technician performance to ensure safe and quality work.
  • Assist the Operations and Drumming Departments as required.
  • Coordinates with other Maintenance Technicians and other Departments
  • Capable of participating in the terminal emergency response organization and wearing an SCBA and other chemical PPE.
  • Wear appropriate PPE for required task, and safely perform job duties.
  • Provide after-hours and weekend support on a routine call rotation and occasionally as job duties demand
  • Drive a company vehicle.

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Vocational training in Mechanics
  • Basic knowledge of pumps, air compressors and dryer, and vehicle and equipment repair
  • 10 or more years of experience as a craftsman in an industrial maintenance setting.
  • 10 or more years of supervisory experience in an industrial maintenance setting - chemical manufacturing and/or chemical logistics terminal preferred.
  • At least five years of experience in mechanical maintenance or construction related activities in an industrial setting. This requirement can be waived by IMTT depending on educational background and/or other occupational experience.
  • General experience in an industrial chemical manufacturing/handling maintenance setting.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT's terminal locations.

Hours of Work
  • Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.
  • This is a non-exempt, hourly position. Employees are scheduled to work assigned shifts within a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays. All hours worked must be accurately recorded, and overtime is paid in accordance with FLSA and company policy.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and smartphones.
  • This job requires the employee to work in an industrial maintenance shop and in an outdoor environment. Temperatures routinely reach 95 - 100 degrees Fahrenheit in summer.
  • The large scale of the operation and the extensive layout of the facility require that the labor force have good physical fitness, including but not limited to, the ability to walk through uneven terrain and to climb stairs and ladders. Furthermore, because the facility and adjoining facilities handle hazardous materials, the labor force must be able to evacuate quickly from any location of the facility without assistance in an emergency.
  • The job requires strenuous activities and heavy lifting in an outdoor environment. Incumbent must walk rough terrain, climb stairs and ladders on 80-foot-high tanks and lift 50 pounds on a routine basis. Must be capable of wearing respirator and/or other PPE during some operations or emergencies.
