Job description

What We Are Looking For
Direct and supervise the the marine workforce, facilities and equipment for the safe and efficient transfer of materials between vessel and dock at the marine terminal. Direct and supervise rail activity, loading and unloading vehicles.
What You Will Do
  • Studies receiving or shipping notices, requests for movement of raw materials and finished products, and space available to develop schedule for material handling activities.
  • Must be able to operate various types of terminal equipment (loaders,material handlers,haul trucks,excavators)
  • Confers with supervisors of other departments to coordinate flow of materials or products.
  • Verifies or prepares records such as routing slips, material requisitions, and job orders.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Interprets job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
  • Adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Performs activities of workers supervised.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must be abe to work around barge,river and marine operations

What You Need
  • Valid North Carolina Drivers License or ability to obtain is required
  • Minimum of five years of successful work experience in the terminal industry, specializing in the stevedoring of vessels is required.
  • A minimum of three years in a lead position or higher capacity is required
  • Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communications to a diverse workforce.
  • Must demonstrate a familiarity of the products, modes of transport, and methods of handling dry bulk materials.
  • Ability to accept direction and work effectively & cooperatively with other people.
  • Job location is in the Cofield, North Carolina Area.
  • Requires work in all types of weather conditions
  • Must be available to work all shifts and weekend
  • Availability and periodic response to emergency situations on a 24/7 basis.
