Baton Rouge Ochsner Discovery Health Sciences Academy (BROD) is a newly authorized Type 2 Charter that is part of the Discovery Schools Charter Management Organization. We are excited to bring Discovery education to the Baton Rouge area through our second corporate partnership with Ochsner Health. The school is scheduled to open for the 2023-24 school year, starting with grades PreK4 - 4th and will eventually educate students in grades PreK - 8th at full capacity.
Baton Rouge Ochsner Discovery Health Sciences Academy seeks qualified Guest Teachers (Substitutes) for grades PreK through 4th. You must have at least a high school diploma to substitute teach in Louisiana and pass a national and state criminal background check.
Substitute teachers will assist in classroom activities and student development on a temporary as needed basis. The goal of the short term substitute is to continue with the lessons of the full time teacher. Being a substitute means you must continue all duties of the teacher if possible. This could include lunch or recess duty, bus duty, giving and grading assignments, handling discipline, and keeping order within the classroom while teaching the provided assignment.
