ABOUT THE JOB

The Tepa Companies are seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer to lead and support our customers’ and project managers’ GIS tasks and activities. This role provides technical leadership and support in the areas of geospatial requirements gathering solution design/implementation, GIS system integration, software deployments, GIS system administration, troubleshooting and training. The Senior Solutions Engineer leads small to medium sized efforts (at times including the activities of technical resources on those projects) to ensure successful completion and typically will have significant interaction with client staff, Tepa project managers and other technical resources.  This role often assists project managers by managing significant portions of technical projects and client relationships.  

Job functions:

  • Provides advanced geospatial expertise to managers, clients and technical staff

  • Leads technical discussions both internally and with customer teams, including requirements gathering, solution design, testing and training

  • Provides and document reviews, recommendations, procedures and designs in support of Tepa and client enterprise GIS activities along with the technologies that often integrate with GIS 

  • Advises the selection of technological purchases, with regards to system specifications and requirements relevant to geospatial processing, data storage, data access, data acquisition, etc.

  • Creates standards and procedures for geospatial projects, data and applications and database structures and relationships

  • Works alongside project managers to successfully monitor progress and implementation of initiatives

  • Advises on the feasibility of potential future projects to management and create written content for technical proposals and cost/effort estimates

  • Occasionally manages small to medium sized technical projects and client relationships

  • Mentors other technical staff and proactively share knowledge, skills and information

  • Regularly designs, deploys and/or troubleshoots Esri server technologies at a System Administrator level of skill

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, Information Technology or related field

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance, Transportation Working Identification Card (TWIC) or similar, which typically requires proof of U.S. Citizenship and a background check

  • 8+ years of experience in implementation, administration and advanced usage of geospatial applications 

  • Significant advanced experience with the Esri ArcGIS suite of applications and solutions, including server-side Enterprise technologies and Web GIS Application creation and administration (e.g. ArcGIS Experience Builder, Survey 123, etc.)

  • Power-user skills with Esri’s ArcGIS Pro and experience with scripting languages such as Python, ArcPy, and Arcade expressions

  • Experience with mobile and field data capture technologies (e.g. GPS, Lidar, Esri Field Maps, etc.)

  • Experience deploying, configuring and troubleshooting Esri server technologies (e.g. ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Server, etc.)

  • Ability to prioritize required tasks to meet multiple schedule deadlines

  • Advanced understanding of business analysis techniques and processes

  • Ability to work with various departments to facilitate the orderly execution of a proposed project plan

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for requirements gathering, system documentation, training and other collaborative activities 

Preferred: 

  • Hands on professional experience performing or leading Geospatial System integration activities

  • Significant experience designing/deploying/administering Esri Server technologies such as ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Server

  • Consulting experience

  • Experience with Enterprise IT processes, systems and terminology

  • Experience with SQL and/or PostgreSQL for database administration

  • Esri Professional level certifications

  • Certificates and/or experience related to Cloud technologies, System Architecture, Cybersecurity

  • Some familiarity with Computer Aided Drafting technologies such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.

  • Some experience with Azure, GCC High and/or CMMC Compliant NIST 800-171
