Job description

Description
Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School's Finance Group in Cambridge, MA is seeking outstanding senior level applicants. We stress high research potential or achievement; faculty responsibilities include conducting original scholarly research in finance or related topics, teaching introductory finance as well as more specialized courses in Finance and related topics at the graduate and undergraduate level. Some service to the school is also expected as part of a senior faculty role.
The pay range for a 9-month academic appointment at the senior-level Professor rank (excluding summer salary) is $317,000 - $498,000. Senior salaries are determined by several factors. The pay offered to a selected candidate during hiring will be based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience and education/training, internal peer equity, and applicable legal requirements. These factors impact where an individual's pay falls within a range. Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background check, including verifying any finding of misconduct (or pending investigation) from prior employers.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess a PhD in Finance or a related field by the start of employment. Candidates with zero to three years' experience in a higher education teaching position are considered junior candidates, and may apply at this link: https://apply.interfolio.com/189932, while those who are tenured or being considered for tenure at another institution are considered senior candidates and may apply via the "Apply Now" link at the top right of this page. Please ensure you apply using the appropriate application link so your application is reviewed under the correct position.
Application Instructions
Applications must include a cover letter and a curriculum vitae. A personal statement describing research areas and teaching experience is also welcome. Letters of recommendation are not required at this stage for senior candidates, as selected candidates will need to go through an academic case review process involving relevant letter writers.
Please submit your application by November 15, 2026.
Applications should be addressed to:
Professors Antoinette Schoar and Emil Verner
Co-Chairs, Finance Group Search Committee
