This position will support the information literacy instruction program in the Business Library by engaging with researchers and students on proprietary data and emerging analysis tools, and design and deliver user-centered instruction activities. The Business Data and Sustainability Librarian will connect with other subject experts and integrate business expertise and knowledge of social impact across disciplines where needed, particularly in support of projects involving socially responsible or environmentally sustainable business development. Other opportunities for this position may include supporting the Social Responsibility & Sustainability division, the MS Sustainable Business and MS Analytics programs, the Business Minor program, and entrepreneurship programs in the College of Music and the College of Engineering and Applied Science.
As a member of the University Libraries faculty, the Business Data and Sustainability Librarian will be expected to maintain a record of scholarly research/creative work, participate in professional service activities, and actively engage in faculty governance, in keeping with the tenure standards of the University of Colorado Boulder. A typical annual merit formula for tenure-track faculty is 40% librarianship, 40% research, and 20% service.
This position has the opportunity to work in a hybrid capacity and reports to the Head of the Relationship Building & Engagement Unit. The Relationship Building & Engagement Unit is part of the Branches and Services Department, which is part of the Success and Engagement Division. Please see the Libraries' organizational chart.

- Focus on graduate and faculty research in areas of emerging technology, ethics and social impact.
- Provide consultations, with primary responsibility for cross-curricular consults arising from the Business Minor, as well as those related to social responsibility and sustainability, and business analytics.
- Serve as primary point of contact for emerging technology and AI-focused business research.
- Build relationships with disciplinary liaison librarians and disciplinary entrepreneurship programs.
- Track and participate in established and emerging groups within Leeds and the larger campus innovation community as appropriate.
- Focus on building relationships within Leeds School of Business, such as the social responsibility & sustainability division and analytics MS programs, and PhD programs.
- Contribute to a shared community of expertise in AI tools in the libraries. Work collaboratively to open new avenues for research and librarianship through the thoughtful integration of AI and emerging technologies into librarianship.
- Develop and share deep subject expertise around use of AI tools for business research.
- Develop and share expertise on business analytics.
- Develop expertise in global social and environmental impact measures within the field of Business.
- Leverage subject expertise and area relationships to advocate for libraries priorities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure business collections and resources meet Business community needs, with particular attention to resources related to social impact and business analytics.
- Build information literacy teaching and learning into the University curriculum related to specific disciplines, areas, competencies, or techniques.
The successful candidate will be appointed as a full-time (12-month) tenure track faculty member at the Assistant Professor rank. The starting salary range for Assistant Professor is $73,000-$84,000. A candidate that meets the University and Libraries criteria for hire with tenure may be eligible for the rank of Associate Professor with a starting salary range of $80,000-$90,000. A candidate with a career of excellence and significant growth, development, and accomplishment post-tenure may be eligible for the rank of Full Professor with a starting salary range of $95,000-$105,000.
