Job Summary
The operations assistant provides direct candidate recruitment support to the Texas-based Archer Center team. This position assists with Archer Center recruitment by responding to prospective student questions, tracking interest in the program, following-up with interested students and researching new recruitment opportunities. The operations assistant will also be the coordinator and primary point person for Archer Fellow Alumni Ambassadors who assist with recruitment across the 14 University of Texas System institutions.
A successful candidate will be organized and detail-oriented, possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be poised and professional in representing the Archer Center, and handle confidential information with tact and discretion. This position requires a high level of organizational and time management skills and the ability to work with individuals from various academic institutions across the state. Travel is not required.
This position is based in The University of Texas System Administration Office/Archer Center in Austin, Texas, and reports to the Associate Director of Admissions and Campus Relations.
Minimum Education and Experience
High school graduate or equivalent.
Preferred Education and Experience
Preferred Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree or upper-division undergraduate student. Student at a UT System institution pursuing a degree in education, higher education, political communication, leadership, policy, or political science/government, or a related field.
Experience working in an administrative office environment. Experience working with students and staff in a higher education setting. Interest in the impact of experiential and/or away from campus programs on students' professional, personal and academic growth. Knowledge and experience with Archer Center programs.
Other Qualifications
To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Represent the Archer Fellowship Program/Graduate Archer Fellowship Program with exceptional professionalism and enthusiasm.
  • Serve as coordinator and primary point of contact for the Archer Fellow Alumni Ambassadors program and other alumni initiatives to support recruitment.
  • Lead regular check-in meetings with Alumni Ambassadors, providing guidance and support while ensuring that ambassadors follow Archer Center guidelines in their work; Act as liaison between Archer Center staff and Alumni Ambassadors.
  • Attend in-person and virtual information sessions for the Archer Fellowship Programs as needed.
  • Research campus events, student organizations, and other campus spaces for opportunities to promote the Archer Fellowship Program to new audiences across UT System institutions.
  • Assist with Archer Fellowship Program candidate application processing and eligibility reviews.
  • Support Texas-based Archer Center team as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position is located in Austin, Texas. Offices are in the UT System Administration building in downtown Austin. This role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval. This position is a Temporary - Non-Benefits eligible role working approximately 20 hours or less per week.
