POSITION SUMMARY

Maintenance

Perform tasks involving physical labor at construction sites. May operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, and clean up rubble, debris, and other waste materials. May assist other craft workers.

Grounds

Landscape or maintain grounds of property using hand or power tools or equipment. Workers typically perform a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, sprinkler installation, and installation of mortarless segmental concrete masonry wall units.

Hourly compensation is based on placement for verified years of experience on the Wage Scale based on Verification of Experience through previous employers.

QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum amount of education and/or experience necessary for the employee to be successful in the position:

Education/Experience

High school diploma or equivalent and four years related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Ability to diagnose the cause of maintenance related problems.  Knowledge of basic computer skills.  Must be able to determine supply and material needs.  Ability to plan and schedule work for the department(s) and perform multiple concurrent tasks.  Ability to motivate, evaluate and supervise staff in order to effectively and efficiently perform all jobs.  Must be organized.
