Job description

Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer – Wiring Harness & Schematic Design

Location: Raymond, OH

Job Type: Full- Time


Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Design Engineer with experience in wiring harness design, electrical schematics, and Creo-based electrical routing solutions. The candidate will be responsible for developing, designing, and validating electrical harness systems for automotive, industrial, or machinery applications while ensuring compliance with design standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, and routing layouts using Creo.
  • Create and modify electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and interconnection drawings.
  • Prepare 2D and 3D harness models, flatten drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams for design integration.
  • Select appropriate connectors, terminals, wires, and protective components based on project requirements.
  • Perform harness packaging studies, routing optimization, and interference checks.
  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, and quality requirements.
  • Support prototype development, testing, troubleshooting, and engineering change activities.
  • Maintain engineering documentation and configuration control throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical support during production and validation stages.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in electrical wiring harness design and schematic development.
  • Proficiency in Creo for harness design and routing.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical schematics, wiring standards, and cable management.
  • Familiarity with connectors, terminals, fuses, relays, and electrical protection systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and manufacturing requirements.
  • Good understanding of GD&T, DFMEA, and engineering documentation practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in automotive, EV, aerospace, or industrial equipment projects.
  • Knowledge of PLM/PDM systems and engineering change management.
  • Familiarity with testing and validation of electrical harness systems.

Experience:

  • 2–5 years (or as required) in wiring harness and electrical schematic design
