Part-Time Lecturer Pool

POSITION

The Department of Asian American Studies at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer Pool. These part‑time lecturers will be called upon to teach courses in a variety of subject areas. The appointment is made on a short‑notice basis to meet the department’s semester‑by‑semester needs.

  • Asian American Women
  • Ideas, Imagination and Intersections in Ethnic Studies/ Asian American Studies
  • Community, Liberation and Action in Ethnic Studies/ Asian American Studies
  • Vietnamese Communities in the US
  • Multiple Heritage Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders
  • South Asian American Experiences
  • Korean American Experiences
  • World War II Japanese American Evacuation
  • Civic Engagement Through Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies
  • Survey of American History with Emphasis on Ethnic Minorities

Applications will be considered as units become available. Population needs are highest during the Fall and Spring semesters.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • ABD doctoral candidate or Master’s degree with substantial graduate coursework in Asian American Studies, ethnic studies, or related fields
  • Expertise in fields relevant to the Department’s curriculum
  • Evidence of prior relevant teaching, mentoring, or tutoring experience
  • Evidence of experience in the relevant academic field or in professional/community‑based experience
  • Ability to interact and work effectively with a wide, culturally diverse student body, including first‑generation college students
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment
APPOINTMENT AND SALARY

All appointments are made as Lecturers under the CSU Collective Bargaining Agreement. Initial appointments are for one semester. Compensation is prorated to units taught and paid in six monthly payments per semester.

  • Classification Range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month
  • Anticipated hiring range: $5,221 – $6,221 per month (not to exceed)
  • Typical three‑unit assignment: $6,608.40 – $7,465.20 per semester

APPOINTMENT DATE AND ACADEMIC CALENDAR

September (Fall) starts late August to mid‑December, Spring runs mid‑January to end of May, and Summer sessions may also require part‑time faculty.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION

Regular performance evaluations are conducted each semester. Outcomes influence future appointment decisions.

MANDATED REPORTER AND BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS

Applicants are required to comply with the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must undergo a satisfactory background check. Successful completion of a background screening is a condition of continued employment.
