Project Overview:
Bechtel has been selected to partner on the design and construction of Poland's first nuclear power plant at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site in Pomerania. In partnership with Westinghouse Electric Company and Polish utility Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe, Bechtel will deliver three AP1000® reactors for its inaugural nuclear energy program.
Bechtel will perform the Engineering, Procurement and Construction activities to construct 3 AP1000® units at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site. Using once-through cooling to and from the Baltic Sea, the design uses a simplified and innovative approach to safety. Bechtel's recent completion of two AP1000's® at Plant Vogtle has set the stage for the deployment of this proven technology in Europe.

Job Summary:
The Startup and Operations Coordinator will provide planning coordination and execution support for commissioning, startup, and turnover (CSU) activities in accordance with project requirements, procedures, and established NS&E processes. This role supports system completion, turnover, and startup readiness by integrating activities across engineering, procurement, construction, and operations. The position operates within a matrixed, project environment, working collaboratively with Project disciplines functions and leadership across all business lines to promote consistency, standardization, and effective CSU execution.
The Startup Operations Coordinator contributes to the safe, timely, and efficient delivery of startup objectives and supports Business Unit-level CSU performance through coordination, data management, and continuous improvement efforts.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Reports directly to the Project Startup Manager
  • Supports development and maintenance of CSU execution plans, systemization, and turnover strategies
  • Coordinates CSU activities across engineering, procurement, construction, and operations organizations
  • Interfaces with Project Vendors, Major suppliers and Licensors in planning and execution of the project startup effort
  • Assists in identifying constraints, risks, and interfaces impacting startup execution
  • Supports alignment and standardization of CSU processes, tools, and reporting practices across the Business Unit
  • Facilitates communication of CSU status, risks, and priorities across project teams
  • Assists in consolidating CSU metrics and performance insights for functional leadership
  • Promotes sharing of lessons learned and best practices between projects
  • Supports system and subsystem turnover processes in accordance with project procedures
  • Coordinates verification of turnover package completeness, including documentation and punch list status
  • Coordinates CSU work activities and readiness for field execution
  • Tracks pre-commissioning and commissioning progress against approved plans
  • Supports identification, escalation, and resolution of issues impacting startup
  • Maintains CSU systems and databases, including system completion and turnover tracking tools
  • Prepares routine status reports, dashboards, and performance metrics
  • Supports aggregation and reporting of Business Unit-level CSU data
  • Interfaces with engineering, construction, quality, project controls, and client organizations
  • Collaborates with Project Startup Managers across projects and business lines
  • Supports CSU meetings, readiness reviews, and coordination sessions
  • Communicates CSU status, priorities, and issues to stakeholders
  • Applies CSU procedures, standards, and best practices
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned programs
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance coordination efficiency and execution consistency
  • Supports and promotes a strong safety culture consistent with NS&E principles
  • Assists in ensuring CSU activities are executed in compliance with ES&H requirements, permits, and procedures
  • Participates in readiness reviews to support safe startup execution

Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Advanced knowledge of pertinent industry and regulatory standards
  • Nuclear hands-on commissioning and startup experience on multiple projects
  • Hi level of knowledge on testing and commissioning of nuclear projects including Westinghouse API 1000 Machines
  • Demonstrated experience with initial startup & shutdown trouble shooting
  • Experience with initial equipment and system startup
  • Experience with operation of pneumatic equipment and systems in accordance with design requirements including operation from local control systems/panels
  • Knowledge and experience in the scopes of work inherent in operations and maintenance projects
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead team members and direct reports effectively & positively in a collaborative team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in high pressure situations
  • Experience as a Shift Supervisor, Senior Supervisor or Commissioning Manager
