Overview

HDR is looking for a Senior Construction Consultant to join our national Trenchless Services team. This role will report to the Trenchless Services Engineering Lead, with primary responsibilities supporting the execution of design and field services associated with trenchless services: engineering, design, and construction applications. In the role, we will count on you to provide construction oversight for trenchless installations, conduct constructability reviews, review deliverables, perform site visits, and support project management and construction activities.

Responsibilities
  • Provide Construction Oversight for Trenchless installations.
  • Conduct constructability reviews of trenchless engineering efforts.
  • Review deliverables for trenchless construction activities on a daily basis.
  • Conduct site visits during preliminary engineering efforts.
  • Perform Route Assessments for trenchless aspects of pipeline siting and routing efforts.
  • Oversee trenchless construction oversight activities (staffing coordination, CM scope development/review).
  • Support Business Development for trenchless services through client interface as needed.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, scheduling, and quality control.
  • Prepare the Project Management Plan or Construction Management Plan.
  • Develop procedures for construction contract administration (document, change, time, cost, quality, safety) and implement with the project team.
  • Perform additional construction management activities, including procurement scheduling, subcontract scopes, review of terms, constructability and value engineering, cost estimation, schedule reviews, and project performance presentations.
  • Administer and manage construction activities; monitor progress relative to design requirements.
  • Perform value engineering and constructability reviews; coordinate local bidding for field quotes.
  • Assist in procurement of purchase orders and subcontract packages; review submittals, shop drawings, and pay applications.
  • Prepare, issue, and negotiate Change Orders; review construction schedules and budgets.
  • Coordinate quality assurance/quality control and inspection services; ensure subcontractor compliance with Health and Safety programs.
  • Prepare and update project schedules, pay requests, and progress reports (daily, weekly, monthly).
  • Manage project setup and temporary facilities; perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Experience with estimating software, scheduling software, project management software, and web-based document collaboration tools.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Construction Science or closely related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction planning and management, including contracts, document/time/cost/quality management, change management, site safety, procurement, scheduling, and related activities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Prolog, Primavera, Bluebeam).
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with Owners, Engineers, Contractors, and other stakeholders.
