Job description

About Us

Anthos|Home is a nonprofit startup focused on creating a new way home for New Yorkers with housing vouchers. We streamline the apartment search, approval, and move-in process using technology to move people into stable housing faster. We believe every person deserves a place to blossom, and we're building the tools, systems, and teams to make that possible.

Our Culture

At Anthos|Home, urgency drives our work because every day in shelter matters. We are focused on helping people move into stable housing as quickly as possible and continuously improving how we get there.

We are looking for team members who are highly data-oriented, tech-savvy, and comfortable learning new systems. Strong candidates value accuracy, use data to inform decisions, and actively improve how information is tracked and shared.

We value people who are thoughtful, adaptable, and detail-oriented, and who follow through, communicate openly, and take ownership of their work. How effectively we use data and technology directly impacts how quickly people get home.

The Role

The Human Resources + Recruiting Temp will join Anthos|Home's Human Resources team for the summer to support an active hiring season. This is an ideal opportunity for a student or recent graduate pursuing a career in human resources, talent acquisition, nonprofit management, or organizational operations. You will gain direct experience in recruiting coordination, candidate assessment, and cross-functional team communication in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

We're looking for someone who is organized, communicative, and comfortable managing multiple open roles simultaneously. You should be the kind of person who takes ownership of your tasks, asks questions when something is unclear, and cares deeply about representing an organization with integrity and warmth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete reference checks for finalists, documenting feedback clearly and consistently

  • Track recruiting activity across open roles using Breezy and flag bottlenecks to the HR lead

Process & Documentation

  • Flag gaps, delays, or issues in the pipeline to the HR lead promptly
  • Assist with drafting or updating recruiting communications and templates as needed
  • Assist with additional HR-related tasks and projects as needed and as assigned

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in human resources, business, public administration, social work, nonprofit management, or a related field
  • Prior experience in an administrative, coordination, or customer-facing role preferred
  • Tech-savvy and quick to learn new tools with proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, SharePoint) and Slack, or related internal communications system required
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems, HRIS, or background screening platforms; experience with Breezy, Checkr, or ADP a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills you'll be representing Anthos|Home to candidates
  • Basic familiarity with compliant hiring practices, including confidentiality of candidate information, equal employment opportunity principles, and lawful pre-employment inquiry guidelines; prior coursework or exposure to employment law a plus
  • Availability for the full summer period (approximately JuneAugust); 20 hours per week; exact dates flexible

Required Skills & Attributes

  • Self-directed and proactive - you follow through without needing to be reminded
  • Mission-aligned - you care about the work Anthos|Home does and want to contribute to it
