  1. Job Summary

The Admissions Recruitment Assistant supports Luther Seminary's mission of "educating leaders for Christian communities" by assisting the Admissions Office with the recruitment of qualified applicants to the seminary's programs, primarily for graduate certificate and master's degree programs and secondarily for non-degree offerings. The recruitment assistant will help develop resources for recruitment, will travel for and staff events where recruitment opportunities exist, and be an initial point of contact for discerning students, ensuring they are welcomed with openness and hospitality into a space of prayerful listening and conversation regarding vocation and discernment.
This is a temporary, part-time opportunity averaging 15-20 hours/week, January-May, no benefits.
  1. Essential Functions

Recruitment
  • Assists recruitment and welcome efforts of the Admissions Team to help achieve enrollment goals for the seminary
  • Staff off-campus recruitment and outreach visits for connecting with discerning students and influencers, which may include but are, not limited to faith communities, colleges and universities, outdoor ministries, seminary fairs, ministry and church conferences/conventions, service corps, non-profits, etc.
  • Serves as an initial point of contact for prospective students and provides introductory information and conversation, strategically connecting them with staff and faculty for further conversation
  • Assists with admissions events, including but not limited to virtual and in-person campus visits, discernment events, open houses, high school previews, camp fairs, and other recruitment-related events, fostering a discerning student experience that supports vocational discernment and generates excitement about Luther Seminary while providing honest and accurate information about the expectations of graduate theological education
  • Helps support and create multimedia resources for recruitment, which may include but is not limited to print, digital, video and social media content
  • Travel and occasional evening and weekend work when needed

Admissions General
  • Accompanies discerning students with integrity and grace, advising them regarding program fit and specifications, admissions requirements, and application process, financial aid and scholarship information, residential and community life, and resources for spiritual formation
  • Pro-actively communicates with discerning students through phone, written, digital, virtual, and face-to-face contact, professionally representing Luther Seminary's programs and offerings in a manner consistent with Luther's mission, vision, values, and welcome statement
  • Maintains admissions records and keeps accurate accounting of all student communications in the database, ensuring data confidentiality

Other Duties/Responsibilities
  • Supports a campus culture where diversity is valued and inclusion is encouraged
  • Represents Luther Seminary in the most positive manner toward prospective, former, and current students, ministry partners, and the community we serve
  • Executes necessary administrative tasks, including travel reports, tracking spending, data coding, and other tasks as necessary
  • Attends all meetings, including check-ins with supervisor (monthly), Enrollment Team meetings (weekly), and other meetings as needed
  • Perform other functions as necessary or as assigned

Required education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-2 years of experience in admissions/recruitment, higher education, and/or ministry/nonprofit organization

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master's Degree in a theological field from a seminary or divinity school
  • Preferred recent alum of Luther Seminary

  • Ability to articulate personal faith and sense of vocation and to engage prospective students who have a variety of theological perspectives and vocational interests

Technology
  • Knowledge of Microsoft and Google environments, including Word, Excel, and , PowerPoint
