Position Summary

Shaw’s corporate sustainability team helps create a competitive advantage for Shaw and its brands through sustainability – leveraging market insights and technical expertise to inform, influence and support business decisions. The Vice President of Sustainability Engagement acts as a liaison with Shaw’s sustainability team, its brand leaders and external stakeholders including customers, business partners, membership organizations, and target media. This role deepens customer relationships, helps translate sustainability into business value for our customers, gathers market insights, stays abreast of emerging trends, and represents Shaw in internal and external forums to effectively communicate Shaw’s sustainability strategy, progress and key programs. Reporting to the Vice President of Global Sustainability, this role contributes to the continued development and evolution of Shaw's enterprise sustainability strategy by connecting customer priorities, market intelligence, and strategic relationships with business objectives. Working through influence and partnership, this leader collaborates across the sustainability team, sales, marketing, business units, and external stakeholders to strengthen Shaw's reputation, deepen customer relationships, and support long-term business success.

Key Areas of ResponsibilityStrategic Customer & Market Engagement

Key Responsibilities

  • Build trusted executive-level relationships with customers, A&D firms, end users, strategic partners, and industry influencers to strengthen Shaw's market position and sustainability leadership.
  • Partner with business leaders to help the organization capture the value of Shaw's sustainability strategy while translating that value into meaningful outcomes for customers and the marketplace.
  • Represent Shaw at executive customer engagements, conferences, industry events, and strategic forums as a credible sustainability ambassador.
Market Intelligence & Strategic Insight

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as corporate sustainability's primary connection to customers, sales, marketing, and other key internal and external partners, bringing meaningful insights back into the organization.
  • Monitor emerging customer expectations, competitive activity, sustainability trends, regulatory developments, and partnership opportunities to identify opportunities and business risks.
  • Translate market intelligence into actionable recommendations that help Shaw anticipate and prepare for change, strengthen business strategy, and lead through sustainability.
Sustainability Enablement & Business Partnership

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with sales, marketing, and business leadership to integrate sustainability into customer engagement and business strategy.
  • Co‑develop scalable tools, educational resources, engagement strategies, and customer‑facing resources with Shaw's business and brand sustainability teams to strengthen sustainability understanding and confidence across the organization.
  • Serve as a trusted business partner who helps connect corporate sustainability's expertise with customer needs and business priorities.
Sustainability Story Alignment & Thought Leadership

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with corporate communications and marketing to shape and continuously evolve Shaw's sustainability narrative in alignment with enterprise sustainability strategy.
  • Help translate sustainability strategies and technical expertise into meaningful business stories that strengthen customer relationships, reinforce Shaw's reputation, and support talent attraction and retention.
  • Expand Shaw's sustainability influence through strategic partnerships, executive speaking engagements, media opportunities, industry events, and thought leadership.
Strategic Partnerships & Industry Leadership

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key sustainability organizations, industry associations, certification bodies, NGOs, academic institutions, and other strategic stakeholders.
  • Partner with the Vice President of Global Sustainability to coordinate Shaw's external engagement strategy and ensure the appropriate leaders are engaged in the right opportunities.
  • Leverage strategic partnerships to strengthen Shaw's market position, identify collaboration opportunities, and advance sustainability leadership across the industries Shaw serves.
Leadership & Enterprise Influence

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead with integrity, credibility, and influence, building trusted partnerships and collaborating across corporate sustainability, sales, marketing, business units, and corporate functions, consistently representing Shaw’s sustainability strategy.
  • Contribute customer perspectives, market intelligence, and strategic insights that strengthen Shaw's enterprise sustainability strategy and business priorities.
  • Foster a culture of curiosity, service, collaboration, continuous learning, and optimism while continuously strengthening sustainability engagement capabilities and business impact.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred. 10+ yrs of sustainability, customer engagement, strategy, etc. experience required. Progressive leadership experience in sustainability, business strategy, customer engagement, consulting, marketing, product stewardship, environmental leadership, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted senior level relationships and influence customers, business leaders, and cross‑functional teams through collaboration rather than formal authority.
  • Established relationships within the built environment and sustainability communities, with the ability to strengthen Shaw's strategic partnerships and market influence.
  • Strong foundation in sustainability principles combined with the business acumen to connect technical sustainability concepts with customer priorities, market opportunities, and business strategy.
  • Demonstrated personal integrity and sound judgment with a track record of building trust through honest, accurate, and transparent communication.
  • Experience developing trusted relationships with customers, strategic partners, industry organizations, or other external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated business acumen with the ability to connect sustainability strategy to customer priorities, market opportunities, and business objectives.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills with experience representing an organization in a variety of settings while engaging executive, customer, and industry audiences.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support customer engagement, strategic partnerships, and industry leadership activities.
Preferred Experience
