Job description

Job Summary

We're looking for a Heat Treat Operator to operate vacuum and inert atmosphere furnace equipment used to process aerospace and industrial components. In this role, you'll load and unload furnaces, monitor heat treat cycles, program equipment, and ensure all processing is completed in accordance with customer specifications, quality requirements, and company procedures.

Shift: 4th shift, Friday-Sunday 7:00am-7:00pm

Union: This position is represented by Local 475.

Shift Differential: Provide hourly shift differential

Starting Rate: $30.46/hr

Training: New hires must be available to train on 1st shift, Monday-Friday, 7:00a-3:00p for a minimum of 90 days before transitioning to their regularly assigned shift.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Operate vacuum and inert atmosphere heat treat furnace equipment to process aerospace and industrial components.
  • Load and unload heat treat baskets and components into and out of furnace systems.
  • Interpret and follow written heat treatment schedules, coating schedules, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Program furnace controllers in accordance with established procedures and process requirements.
  • Monitor furnace operations and verify compliance with processing parameters.
  • Perform dew point testing and verification on argon and hydrogen furnaces.
  • Complete required documentation and production records accurately.
  • Perform mathematical calculations related to heat treat processing and equipment operation.
  • Support production schedules while maintaining quality and process compliance.
  • Follow all safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow work instructions, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Knowledge of vacuum and inert atmosphere heat treat furnace operations.
  • Ability to interpret and execute heat treatment and coating schedules.
  • Ability to safely load and unload heat treat baskets and components.
  • Ability to program furnace controllers and operate process control systems.
  • Ability to perform dew point testing on argon and hydrogen furnaces.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

 

Nice to Have

  • Previous heat treat, furnace operation, or thermal processing experience.
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience.
  • Experience working with vacuum furnaces, inert atmosphere furnaces, or industrial thermal processing equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, moving equipment, noise, fumes, and varying temperatures.
  • Frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching throughout the workday.
  • Regular lifting and movement of materials up to 30 pounds.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to all safety requirements.
