Job description

Furnace Operators needed in Morgantown, PA!
Pay - $31/hr PLUS shift differential
Shifts - (must be able to work nights, weekends, and occasional holidays)
1st Shift is 8am to 4pm
2nd shift is 4pm to 12am
3rd shift is 12am to 8am
- Shift is 5 days on, 2 days off. Schedule is made 6 weeks in advance - changes weekly
- Follow standard manufacturing and operating procedures. Understand the basic 'high vacuum' and furnace technologies
- Perform pre-operative checks prior to and during pump down cycle. Use pre-pump and start up checklist
- Set up and operate the equipment furnace(s) as directed for melting to include:
- Loading and unloading particulate material and/or electrodes
- Pumping down furnace and operate vacuum systems
- Setting beam programs
- Melting and casting
- Cooling, unloading, identifying and weighing ingots
- Take samples
- Operate furnace / Melt Chair
- Understand basic chemistry specifications and interpret furnace-casting conditions
- Maintain operating records and logs
- Interpret video monitors, gauges, meters, etc. while operating the furnace
- Maintain material and maintenance needed lists
- Perform pumping speed and rate of rise tests to determine condition of vacuum system
- Clean out furnaces and crucibles during maintenance cycles and replace damaged components.
- Change molds, hearths, shields, and feed devices
- Operate leak detectors and determine vacuum integrity.
- Maintain the furnace - perform preventative maintenance such as change filters, replace or change parts, change oil, check fluids.

Prior experience operating industrial or vacuum furnaces
Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and occasional holidays
Ability to follow detailed operating procedures and checklists
Comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment
Strong attention to detail and ability to monitor multiple gauges and systems simultaneously
Ability to maintain accurate records and logs

Background in manufacturing, metallurgy, or materials processing
Familiarity with high-vacuum systems and melting/casting processes
Experience performing basic preventative maintenance on industrial equipment
