Hybrid Position
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Software Developer to support the Automated State Support Enforcement and Tracking System (ASSETS) project for the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA). The ideal candidate will be responsible for analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and support of enterprise Java applications integrated with legacy mainframe systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise Java/J2EE applications
  • Building scalable backend solutions using EJB, Hibernate ORM, and JBoss Application Server
  • Developing and supporting SOAP/REST web services and document generation modules
  • Integrating Java applications with legacy COBOL-based Unisys mainframe systems
  • Developing MVC workflows using Struts 2 for financial accounting, payment processing, and case intake systems
  • Managing Maven build configurations, dependencies, and deployment processes
  • Writing unit and integration tests using JUnit to improve application stability and test coverage
  • Participating in Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions and collaborating with Business Analysts
  • Providing troubleshooting, production support, technical documentation, and mentoring to technical teams
  • Supporting secure, compliance-driven government enterprise applications and modernization initiatives


Required Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience with Java application development and enterprise software design
  • 7+ years of experience with Hibernate ORM integration and enterprise Java frameworks
  • 7+ years of experience with EJB 3.x and J2EE design patterns
  • 7+ years of experience integrating Java applications with legacy COBOL/Unisys mainframe systems
  • 7+ years of experience with Maven build management and dependency configuration
  • 7+ years of experience with Struts 2 MVC framework development
  • 7+ years of experience with JUnit testing and regression support
  • 5+ years of experience with government enterprise systems and compliance-driven workflows
  • Experience with Oracle databases, JBoss AS, Eclipse, SVN, and SonarQube
