About the Opportunity

Home State Bank is seeking a Vice President, Commercial Banker to join our team in Crystal Lake, Illinois. This role offers the opportunity to manage and grow a diverse commercial lending portfolio while developing strong relationships with business owners, commercial real estate investors, and community leaders throughout the market.

As a trusted advisor, you will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, structuring credit solutions, and delivering outstanding service that supports both our clients' success and the Bank's continued growth.

Please note: This position requires local market presence. Relocation assistance is not available.

What You'll Do

  • Develop, manage, and expand a commercial loan portfolio with a focus on Commercial Real Estate (CRE) and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) lending.
  • Cultivate new commercial banking relationships while deepening existing client partnerships.
  • Structure, negotiate, and close commercial loan transactions that balance profitability and risk.
  • Partner with clients to identify and cross-sell treasury management and cash management solutions.
  • Analyze credit opportunities and ensure compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain thorough loan documentation and proactively manage renewals, collections, and problem credits.
  • Build and maintain a strong referral network of attorneys, CPAs, commercial real estate professionals, and other Centers of Influence (COIs).
  • Consistently develop new business through proactive calling efforts and community engagement.
  • Serve as a trusted financial resource for business clients and community stakeholders.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of commercial lending experience as a Loan Officer, preferably with significant CRE and C&I exposure.
  • Experience with SBA 7(a) and SBA 504 lending programs.
  • Demonstrated success in business development and portfolio growth.
  • Strong credit analysis, loan structuring, and risk management skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proven relationship-building and networking skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
