Job description

Job Title: Visitor Services Specialist (PT) – Visitor Center

Reports to: Vice President of Tourism

Department: Information Center Operations


FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Job Summary:

The Visitor Services Specialist is a part-time position and will report to the Vice President of Tourism. The Visitor Services Specialist’s primary responsibility is to provide customer service at Denver Union Station and Colorado Convention Center visitor centers.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Support Visit Denver’s vision, mission, and values by exhibiting the following behaviors: excellence and competence, collaboration, innovation, respect, personalization, commitment to community, accountability, and ownership.
  • Support Visit Denver’s efforts related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
  • Perform customer service functions such as greeting visitors, establishing the nature of their visit, and providing information about and/or directions to various attractions, restaurants, shopping and more.
  • Assists visitors with planning itineraries utilizing company website, company-produced collateral, and partner brochures.
  • Promote and maintain knowledge of Visit Denver partners and their services as well as City of Denver and State of Colorado information.
  • Follow the process of recording visitor traffic (including origin) and other tracking as directed.
  • Receive, organize, and distribute collateral material as requested.
  • Maintain storage and retail display areas as directed to make sure the Tourist Information Center locations present a clean, organized, and professional manner.
  • Follow/maintain operating, cleanliness and safety standards always.
  • Assist with Tourism Department projects as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge and passion for Denver
  • Ability to work in a “retail” team environment interfacing with the public.
  • Effective communication skills, including written and oral English language proficiency.
  • Proficient technology application skills; MS Outlook and Web skills
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/responsibilities simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, flexible, and responsive
  • Ability to travel between Tourist Information Centers and/or Visitor Service temporary desk locations.


Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in the retail/service industry handling large volumes of people is required.
  • Inventory management experience is a plus.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position, such as sitting or standing, for an extended period.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds on an occasional basis.
