Job description

Field Director

TouchStone is seeking a highly organized, mission-driven Field Director to oversee day-to-day operations of a canvassing program in Chicago, IL. This temporary, full-time position will lead on-the-ground execution of our signature gathering strategy, collect signatures themselves, and manage a team of canvassers and support staff, and ensure programmatic goals are met with efficiency and integrity.

TouchStone is a voter contact company dedicated to enhancing the integrity of political outreach through cutting-edge technology, real-time data verification, and user-friendly interfaces. Our team is committed to supporting progressive campaigns with innovative tools and high-impact field operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and daily management of canvassing staff
  • Lead daily briefing and debriefing of field teams and troubleshoot field challenges
  • Track canvasser performance, manage turf assignments, and ensure data quality
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on campaign strategy, reporting, and progress
  • Ensure adherence to all legal and safety protocols
  • Implement accountability systems to support productivity and morale
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of campaign, field, or organizing experience (supervisory experience strongly preferred)
  • Excellent project management and leadership skills
  • High level of comfort with voter contact software, data entry, and reporting tools (NGP-VAN, Reach, TouchStone)
  • Experience managing diverse teams in high-paced environments
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to program changes
  • Willingness to relocate to San Francisco for the duration of the program
  • Commitment to progressive values and inclusive leadership
Additional Details
  • Must be available for irregular campaign hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Temporary relocation support may be discussed
  • This is a full-time, temporary contract role
