Job description

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: The Telecom CAD Drafter/Designer is responsible for creating high quality technical drawings and schematics for telecommunications infrastructure. This position combines high-level AutoCAD design with periodic field site visits to ensure that “as-built” conditions match the engineering designs. This position is responsible for adhering to company CAD standards and ensuring the timely and high-quality of deliverables that meet client and project requirements.
  1. Develop detailed 2D and 3D drawings and models based on design specifications and markups from engineers and architects.
  2. Ensure accuracy and adherence to company and client standards, codes, and project requirements.
  3. Assist with the setup and maintenance of CAD files, templates, and standards per company procedures.
  4. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and designers to ensure delivery is completed on schedule and on budget.
  5. Perform redline revisions and document updates as projects progress.
  6. Support project documentation, including drawings, schedules, and specifications.
  7. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate design data across platforms.
  8. Participate in QA/QC to maintain the accuracy and consistency of drawings.
  9. Maintain awareness of new CAD technologies and contribute to process improvements.
  10. Attend internal and project meetings as needed to ensure coordination and consistency.
5Corporate and Department Planning. Corporate planning contributes to or supports planning activities that affect the entire organization. Department planning entails establishing specific goals, budgets, staffing plans, and timelines that align with the department’s objectives.

  2. Align individual drafting timelines with corporate project milestones to ensure cohesive delivery of telecom infrastructure.

  2. Assist in developing templates, tools, or methods that improve accuracy or reduce production time.
  3. Assist in updating standards, workflows, or documentation that improve project delivery.
  4. Maintain organized project folders and file naming conventions according to company and client standards.
  5. Track drafting progress against project scope and communicate potential “scope creep” to Project Manager.

Education and Experience
  1. Associate degree in Computer-Aided Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of relevant drafting experience in Telecom or Utility.
  3. Experience in AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and other relevant design software.
  4. Experience in reading and interpreting engineering and architectural drawings.
  5. Demonstrated teamwork, time management, and organizational skills.
  6. Experienced problem solver, someone who understands and interprets data and troubleshoots when needed.
  7. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
