The Applied Engineering, Safety, & Technology department is accepting applications for part-time instructors to teach in its Technology and Innovation Master's Program, which is offered by the Applied Engineering, Safety and Technology department.
The purpose of this posting is to generate a pool of qualified faculty. Applications submitted will be reviewed on an as needed basis based on enrollment. Anyone meeting the qualifications may be contacted for an interview and potentially hired when a need exists. In the event that you are interviewed but not immediately hired, your application will remain in the departments pool of qualified faculty.

Duties and Responsibilities
TEACHING AND PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Applicants will teach graduate courses in one or more of the following areas: Fostering Creativity by Design; Engineering, Ethics and AI; Applying Critical Thinking and Decision Making; or Leadership in Practice. In addition, applicants may teach courses in one or more of the concentrations offered under the program.
Courses are taught in-person or fully online asynchronous or blended format and require a comfort and familiarity with the teaching methods that are best suited for such a format. Courses include lecture, discussion, case studies, and activities on creativity, design thinking, problem solving, innovation, decision making, leadership, and professional communication in both spoken and written form.
In-person courses may be taught at various locations including, but not limited to, the Millersville University Campus, the Ware Center in Lancaster City, and the Chester County Intermediate Unit in Downingtown, PA. As a result, applicants will need to have transportation and a willingness to travel to the assigned site as scheduling requires.
In addition to teaching, there is an expectation for scholarship and service commensurate with the assignment.
Part-time faculty members shall maintain a prorated number of office hours each week, at a minimum of twenty-five (25) minutes for each workload hour taught, at such days, times and locations as will accommodate the needs of the students.
This position requires in-person instruction on Millersville University's campus. This position is contingent upon sufficient enrollments in assigned classes.

CONTINUING SCHOLARLY GROWTH AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT and SERVICE TO THE UNIVERSITY AND/OR COMMUNITY:

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Applied Engineering, Safety & Technology, in the College of Science & Technology, is comprised of 19 full-time faculty members, several part-time faculty positions, support staff and more than 475 majors.

Required Qualifications
  • A terminal degree such as a Ph.D., an Ed.D., J.D., or an M.F.A. in fields that have relevance toward the content of the identified graduate courses.
  • Three years of professional experience with documented effectiveness in teaching or training.
  • Proficiency in the application of information technology to teaching and learning.
  • Commitment to promote a safe and healthy learning and research environment.
  • Evidence of ability to successfully teach diverse student populations.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive teaching practices and working with diverse student populations.
  • Committed to teaching graduate courses with a significant focus on creativity, design thinking, problem solving, innovation, decision making, leadership, and professional communication in both spoken and written form.
  • Successful applicants must be prepared to develop and maintain an atmosphere of equity and diversity within their classes.
  • Successful interview.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous graduate-level teaching experience.
  • Prior on-line college-level teaching experience.

  • Able to record and calculate grades, prepare course outline and syllabus, develop course and lesson plans, engage in the selection of appropriate textbooks and other teaching aids necessary to the delivery of instruction.
  • Use computer for email, obtain information on websites, prepare class documents, grade papers, submit final grades online and other duties related to teaching and advising students and serving the department, college, university and community.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risks.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
