Job description

Position Description:
Looking for a team member to collaborate with counseling staff, administration, and teachers to implement an effective school counseling program that aligns with the ASCA National Model. In this position you would oversee counseling services for the student body while implementing support activities of a comprehensive school counseling program. Qualified applicants would have experience working with elementary school students, evaluating systems and data to build a comprehensive guidance and counseling program, use of Synergy, writing, implementing and monitoring behavior support plans.  School counselors must demonstrate exceptional behavior intervention skills, classroom management and be able to deliver a well rounded comprehensive school counseling program.

Special Requirements:   (Certification, training, specialty skills or previous experience)

  1. Valid Oregon license appropriate to the assignment.  (Counseling)
  2. Master's degree representing extensive coursework and practicum experience in child development; principles and practices of educational guidance; educational testing and measurement; counseling theories and techniques; and classroom and behavior management techniques.
  3. Must have knowledge of and skills in using community resources for students, staff, and parents.
  4. Must have excellent rapport-building skills with staff, parents, and students and experience in conflict resolution.
  5. Must be team-oriented in approach to working with staff and families and have a sound background in counseling theory and practice.
  6. Must have the ability to work with the computerized student information and scheduling system.
  7. Must provide individual, group, and peer counseling for students with issues that interfere with their academic, social, or emotional growth.
  8. Must demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.
  9. 504 Case-management.

This TEMPORARY position is 1.0 FTE.
