NAIT's School of Transportation is seeking a Parts Technician (Stockkeeper) to support our Heavy Equipment program Tool Crib. This role is essential to the daily operation of our shops and labs-ensuring tools, equipment, and supplies are organized, available, and ready for use by instructors, staff, and students. Reporting to the Technician Supervisor, the Stockkeeper plays a hands-on role in maintaining safe, efficient, and audit-ready shop environments while providing front-line support at the service counter. The position will support other programs in the School of Transportation as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, organize, and clean tools, parts, supplies, shelving, and storage areas across Automotive shops and labs

  • Staff the service counter and issue tools and supplies to instructors, staff, and students

  • Monitor inventory levels, source and place orders in line with established processes and program needs

  • Receive incoming goods and complete required documentation and paperwork

  • Conduct scheduled inventory counts and maintain accurate inventory records

  • Perform minor repairs on precision and power tools or coordinate professional repair or replacement

  • Maintain and track diagnostic equipment used in Automotive programs

  • Use Microsoft Office and inventory systems for ordering, tracking, and documentation

  • Ensure all work aligns with applicable safety, audit, and compliance standards

  • Provide guidance, training, and workflow support to other support staff as required

  • Complete additional administrative or operational duties as assigned

Skills & Abilities

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Good attention to detail.

  • Strong knowledge of stockkeeping practices, including receiving, storing, issuing, and maintaining materials, parts, tools, and equipment.

  • Good understanding of office processes related to inventory control, records management, requisitions, and timekeeping.

  • Knowledge of approved purchasing procedures, supply sources, and material availability.

  • Ability to perform purchasing tasks within established guidelines.

  • Ability to conduct inventory checks and identify surplus or shortage discrepancies.

  • Ability to problem-solve and respond effectively in a busy shop environment

  • Working knowledge of computers, software applications, and office equipment used in stockkeeping functions.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12

  • Completion of Journeyperson Red Seal Certification in Parts would be an asset

  • Experience in stockroom, warehouse, or parts-related work (Automotive or HET industrial environments preferred)

  • Experience with routine clerical or inventory duties

  • Forklift experience is considered an asset

  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered

The compensation range for this job posting is : $54,370.36 - $67,865.34
