Brief Summary of Work for this Position
UNCW's Office of the Arts serves the UNCW campus and the Wilmington community by shining a spotlight on the intellectual life of the campus through diverse and unique cultural programming. The Office of the Arts curates the UNCW Presents Series, manages Kenan Auditorium, and advocates for the arts on UNCW's campus and in the Wilmington community, in collaboration with the five academic arts departments and community partners. UNCW's Office of the Arts participates in the cultural life of the region as a member of the NC Presenters Consortium and Arts North Carolina.
Temporary Local Stage Crew - UNCW
UNCW is accepting applications for temporary local stage crew to support upcoming theatrical and performance events. Positions are filled on an ongoing, as-needed basis. Applicants should submit a cover letter indicating the crew positions of interest.
Crew members work under the general supervision of the Technical Director and may assist with stage setup, operation, and strike before, during, and after performances.
General Duties May Include
  • Load-in/load-out of scenery, props, and equipment
  • Assembly and dismantling of stages, sets, and rigging
  • Setup and operation of lighting, sound, video, and microphones
  • Construction, painting, and maintenance of set pieces
  • Operation of spotlights, sound, and lighting systems
  • ัั†ะตะฝery and prop tracking during performances
  • Wardrobe handling, cleaning, repairs, and quick changes
  • Maintain clean and safe stage and backstage areas
  • Other duties as assigned

Available Crew Positions
  • Wardrobe - Costume care, laundry, dressing assistance, and quick repairs (strong sewing skills required)
  • Carpenters - Scenic load-in/out, construction, repairs, run crew (own hand tools required)
  • Flymen / Loaders - Operate fly systems and counterweight arbors
  • Riggers - Install, operate, and strike rigging for lighting, audio, video, and scenery
  • Electricians - Hang, focus, circuit lighting and effects
  • Master Electrician - Supervise electricians and lighting systems
  • Lighting Programmer - Program lighting cues (ETC Eos experience preferred)
  • Light Board Operator - Run lighting cues during performances
  • Audio Crew - Set up and operate sound/video equipment
  • Soundboard Operator (A1) - Lead sound mixing and cue execution (Yamaha M7CL or similar experience preferred)
  • Props - Maintain, repair, and track props; run crew support
