Position Overview

Serve patients in moments that matter and be a part of the future of health care. UnityPoint St. Lukes Hospital, in partnership with SCP Health, is seeking a dedicated Emergency Medicine Physician (MD/DO) to join its high-acuity Emergency Department in Sioux City, Iowa.

This opportunity offers exposure to a Level III Trauma Center, strong specialty collaboration, advanced resources, and a collegial team environment within a large regional referral hospital.


Clinical & Program Details

  • Patient Volume: 30,000 ED visits annually (50-65 patients daily on average)
  • Specialties: Emergency Medicine
  • Trauma Designation: Level II Trauma Center
  • Coverage Model:
    • 24-hour physician coverage, 12-hour physician shifts
    • 30 hours/day NP/PA coverage, 10-hour NP/PA shifts
  • Number of Beds: 484 licensed beds
  • Acuity: Moderate to high
  • EMR: Cerner
  • Procedures: Full-scope emergency medicine procedures
  • ICU: Comprehensive ICU services available
  • Admissions/Transfers: Supported by robust inpatient and specialty services
  • Fellowship/Residency: Emergency Medicine residency preferred
  • Moonlighting: Available

Qualifications

  • Education: MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Licensure: Iowa medical license (or ability to obtain)
  • Board Certification: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
  • Experience: Prior Emergency Department experience preferred
  • Skills & Procedures: Broad emergency medicine skill set appropriate for a Level III trauma center
  • Badges: BLS, ACLS, PALS (or ability to obtain)
