Software Engineering Manager

The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Emulation Software Manager to support ourEmulation Software teamlocated in Berkeley, Missouri. This position will focus on supporting the Software Fabric / Boeing Emulation, Simulation, Test and Analysis Framework (BESTAF) business organization.

This is a software management role on the Emulation team that delivers emulation software across the Boeing enterprise. Our software emulating hardware solution supports software verification, hardware verification, and product innovation. Our group works all facets of software engineering including estimating, planning, requirements, design, development, testing, and integration of products in their relevant environments.

The ideal candidate will excel in both the engineering technical acumen/excellence required for this role while also being an engaging and motivating people leader, including committing to:

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage employees performing engineering and technical activities related to emulation and embedded software

  • Develop and execute project and process plans, implement policies and procedures and set operational goalsthat help the Boeing Company meet its commitments

  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports

  • Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. Identify opportunities for improvement

  • Support, develop, and motivate employees

Boeing First-Line Leader Assessment: To be considered for this position you willbe requiredto complete an assessment as part of the selection process. Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelors Degree

  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR completion of the Boeing internal course "Exploring Leadership"

  • This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship

  • 5+ years of experience with the software development life cycle

  • 2+ years of experience working in aerospace, defense, or similar high-tech industry

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 3+ years of experience in leading or managing software engineering activities

  • Active security clearance

  • Experience managing and/or leading a team either formally or informally, with the ability to provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members

  • Experience with team building, developing and motivating employees

  • Strong communication, presentation and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent interpersonal, management/business skills

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and adapting to change

  • Strong background in embedded software engineering

  • Strong background in hardware and low-level software design

  • Knowledgeable of industry standards for high-integrity, safety-critical software

  • Knowledgeable of DevOps practices, automation, and continuous integration pipelines
