Security Installation Technician III

Location: Rochester, NY

Pay: Competitive, based on experience

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Security Installation Technician III to join a growing team supporting commercial security projects throughout the Rochester, NY area.

This position is ideal for a highly skilled technician with extensive experience installing and servicing access control systems, CCTV/IP video surveillance systems, and commercial fire alarm systems. The right candidate will be comfortable working on a variety of project sites including banks, schools, hospitals, churches, office buildings, and other commercial facilities.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Security Installation Technician III, you'll be responsible for the installation, termination, testing, programming, and troubleshooting of integrated security systems in commercial environments.

Daily Responsibilities
  • Install and program commercial security systems including:
    • Access Control Systems
    • CCTV/IP Video Surveillance Systems
    • Commercial Fire Alarm Systems
  • Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, wiring diagrams, and system schematics
  • Install, route, dress, and terminate Cat6 and low-voltage cabling
  • Mount and configure security cameras, card readers, door hardware, access control panels, and related devices
  • Install and troubleshoot fire alarm components including:
    • Pull Stations
    • Smoke Detectors
    • Notification Devices
    • Fire Alarm Control Panels
  • Test and commission newly installed systems to ensure proper operation
  • Program and configure security software and hardware platforms
  • Troubleshoot system issues and perform corrective actions
  • Operate scissor lifts and boom lifts safely when required
  • Communicate effectively with customers, project managers, and team members
  • Maintain accurate installation documentation and project records

Required QualificationsTechnical Experience
  • 5+ years of experience installing commercial security systems
  • Strong experience with:
    • Access Control
    • CCTV / IP Video Surveillance
    • Commercial Fire Alarm Systems
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints and technical drawings
  • Experience running, terminating, and testing Cat6 cabling
  • Knowledge of commercial fire alarm codes and industry best practices
  • Experience programming and commissioning security systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Preferred System Experience

Experience with one or more of the following platforms is highly preferred:

  • LenelS2
  • Software House
  • Milestone
  • Other enterprise-level access control and video management platforms

Candidates with experience across multiple security manufacturers will be highly valued.
