Job description

Pulmonology Opportunity in South Lake Tahoe, CA

Outpatient Pulmonology | Sleep Medicine | Optional Critical Care | Lake Tahoe Lifestyle

Build a flexible Pulmonology practice in the Lake Tahoe region focused on outpatient Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine, with the option to add ICU work. This role offers a sustainable schedule, clinical autonomy, and the opportunity to help grow a dedicated pulmonary service line.

Practice Overview

  • You'll join a small Pulmonary/Critical Care team building a dedicated pulmonary service line across the CA-NV border region
  • Outpatient pulmonary clinic + Sleep Medicine growth opportunity with established diagnostic volume (PFTs, sleep studies)
  • Weekday inpatient pulmonary consults coordinated with the on-duty intensivist (no overnight consult burden in the outpatient model)
  • Procedures include standard bronchoscopy; expanded biopsy/interventional capabilities are a priority as the program grows

Schedule

  • Preferred outpatient model: 4-day workweek, 8-hour clinic shifts (typically 8:00a-5:00p); specific days can be finalized with you
  • Built-in time off structure with a 48-week annual commitment at 1.0 FTE (high-FTE part-time options considered)
  • No overnight or weekend call for the stand-alone outpatient pulmonary footprint
  • Optional split Pulm/CC: add limited ICU blocks/call if you want ongoing critical care exposure

Compensation & Benefits

  • 1099 structure with pulmonary clinic pay starting at 2,100 per 8-hour shift, plus additional diagnostic read income (PFTs and sleep studies)
  • 3,000/month benefits support stipend at 1.0 FTE (pro-rated) to build your own health, retirement, licensing, CME, and travel package
  • 40,000 sign-on/retention bonus for 1.0 FTE (timing can be structured to support a move for the right fit)
  • Malpractice coverage provided, including tail; leadership/directorship opportunities available with additional hourly pay

Candidate Requirements

  • Board eligible/board certified in Pulmonary Medicine (Sleep Medicine interest strongly preferred)
  • Comfort managing outpatient pulmonary disease with appropriate procedural familiarity (bronchoscopy exposure helpful)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain medical licensure in both California and Nevada (cross-border practice footprint)
  • Not a fit for physicians requiring immediate visa sponsorship/visa bridge support for this contract structure

Community & Location Highlights

  • Live and work in the Lake Tahoe region with year-round access to skiing, hiking, biking, and water sports
  • Small-town feel with seasonal energy-population surges during peak summer and winter recreation windows
  • Cross-border practice means access to both South Lake Tahoe and nearby Nevada communities (including Minden/Gardnerville)
  • Easy regional travel with Reno/Tahoe-area airport access for quick getaways and visiting family
