PART-TIME, TEMPORARY SOLID WASTE FEE ATTENDANT SIERRA VISTA, WESTERN REGIONAL LANDFILL CLASSIFICATION: Temporary appointees are unclassified and are not subject to the Merit System Rules. OPENS: Friday, July 17, 2026 CLOSES: Friday, July 31, 2026, at 5 p.m. RATE OF PAY: $15.15 hourly PLEASE NOTE: All positions require a post offer, pre-employment background screening

NATURE OF WORK: Under direct supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in the operation and maintenance of landfill sites; performs related work as assigned. Essential Functions As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents of this class.

TYPICAL DUTIES: (Illustrative Only) Determines appropriate charges to be levied and receives fees; prepares and issues fee receipts; directs public in the use of the site; records vehicle descriptions and account transactions; observes all safety requirements; maintains daily user counts; and makes bank deposits. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent; six (6) months of clerical or record keeping experience; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and the ability to be covered by county insurance. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Working knowledge of: the collection of payments and balancing of monies; occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions; simple bookkeeping. Some knowledge of: landfills and transfer stations. Ability to: perform mathematical computations; operate an electronic cash register; maintain simple records and reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public; read, write and speak English follow written and verbal instruction; communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily performed under direct supervision. Incumbent performs work in an outdoor structure with limited climate controls in a variety of climatic conditions. Work may result in exposure to potentially hazardous materials to include but not limited to construction materials, cleaning agents, sanitizers, fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides.

Requires working early morning hours to include weekends. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, fine motor skills, ability to communicate. Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds requires a good deal of walking, standing or involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls.

Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem-solving skills are important.
