Brief Job Description:
The Salesforce Software Development Engineer in Test position (Systems Analyst V) reports to the Quality Assurance (QA) and Automation Lead in Health and Human Services Commission Information Technology (HHSC IT), Administrative Applications. This position is responsible for executing exploratory and automated testing activities in an Agile/Scrum environment to ensure high-quality software and certifies compliance according to regulatory statutes, policies, and procedures.
Performs highly complex level diagnoses and test planning, documentation, and execution of Salesforce manual test cases in support of the HHSC Grants Management System. This position will also create, design, and maintain advanced manual / automation test execution reports and dashboards. Makes recommendations for improving QA and automation processes and best practices based on analysis. Creates and maintains test and automation documentation on processes, policies, application configuration, and maintenance of help-related materials for business / QA team members. The position will lead, organize and clean-up Salesforce manual and automation test efforts. Works in collaboration with other team members and management.
Must be willing to work from an HHS office designated by the hiring manager three, or more, days per week located in Austin, TX.
Essential Job Functions:Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
Oversees the manual and automation test effort of the HHSC Salesforce organization and its environments. Monitors the health of the environment by executing automated scripts regularly. Reviews reports and dashboards and monitors quality of the software. Troubleshoots and provides solutions to manual and automated test issues. Provides recommendations to the Salesforce team as needed. Accurately represents the business needs as requested and effectively communicates these needs with QA team and the Salesforce Development team, and management. (30%)
Communicates with team members and relevant partners verbally and in writing on issues, resolutions, and expectations. Monitors and manages the team's Salesforce SharePoint and/or Confluence. (30%)
Serves as the subject matter expert for HHSC Salesforce organization and its applications. Learns the security aspects of each Salesforce application. Meets with the Salesforce team to ensure proper guidelines are followed. Stays up-to-date with relevant QA and automation trainings along with Trailhead trainings. (10%)
Performs functional testing and manages User Acceptance Testing by ensuring adequate test cases exists and all User Acceptance Criteria are met. (10%)
Performs QAA Test plan / automation code reviews on Salesforce / non-Salesforce areas. (10%)
Coordinates with other team members on creating and updating applications automated test cases / manual test cases. Creates and maintains reports and dashboards. Performs automation code deployment as needed. Performs other tasks as assigned. (10%)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):Knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
Knowledge of SQL and scripting.
Knowledge of Jira and common test automation software such as Selenium.
Knowledge of code coverage tools.

Skill in performing thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved.

Skill in tracking quality assurance metrics, including defect densities and defect counts.
Skill in communicating with different stakeholders to identify and gather system requirements.
Skill in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
Skill in verbal, written, and presentation communication.
Skill in communicating with varied levels of staff and end users to develop positive and effective working relationships.
Ability to provide assistance by responding to inquiries from others regarding errors, problems, or questions about programs.

Initial Screening Criteria:Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in business, communications, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, or a related field. Appropriate experience including experience designing, developing, implementing, and executing Test Automation Framework in Selenium may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to four years.
Minimum of 3 (three) years of experience designing, developing, implementing, and executing Test Automation Framework in Selenium or similar technologies.
Minimum of 5 (five) years of experience in software development and quality assurance.
Minimum of 5 (five) years of experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases.
Minimum of 1 (one) year of experience with Salesforce Applications.
Minimum of 3 (three) years of experience with Agile software development methodologies.
Preferred 5 (five) years of experience with both white box and black box testing.
