Job description

The Field Service Technician role is a traveling role and provides both mechanical and electrical support both at our Robotics facility as well as at our client facilities. Field Service Technicians use a variety of tools and skills to provide customer support and ensure client satisfaction.
Job Functions:
  • Understanding of Relay Logic Relay logic, Frequency Drives, Photocells, Proximity switches, high and low voltage systems, 1 & 3 phase electric circuits,
  • PLC Programming; Computer/PLC, HMI, Robotic checkout and startup
  • Peripheral equipment interface (Scales, printers, etc.)
  • Assist with commissioning of robotic products, both internal and external customer sites
  • Work with site manager role and supervision of sub-contractors at external customer sites
  • Conduct training for external customers
  • Provide customer service support for internal and external customers in a timely manner
  • Receives assignments for location/customer from management, responsible for execution of solutions independently, following company standards
  • Close coordination with Service & Project Manager as applicable.
  • Starting up and troubleshooting of equipment
  • Assistance with and final check of equipment layouts in preparation for installation
  • Providing feedback on project successes and challenges to be incorporated into the Project Manager's Lessons Learned document
  • Review control schematics
  • Product Testing that may require lifting. These items may weigh up to and including 50 pounds.
  • Occasional service visits will be required for a warranty issue, or for scheduled service
  • Site visits (other than emergency service) to be scheduled well in advance and goals for each trip discussed with Service Manager

Travel Requirements:
  • 60-80% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Toyota Automated Logistics)

Preferred Skills and Required Qualifications:
  • 2-year degree from technical school and 6+' experience within a Service Tech role
  • Skilled in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and PLC troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of VFD (variable frequency drive) applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required.
  • Literate with MS Office software suite and Internet/e-mail.
  • Material Handling, Robotics, Manufacturing or Packaging background required.
  • Strong technical aptitude and extensive knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance. Experience in industrial robotic applications and conveying in the packaging field (palletizers/packers) preferred.
  • Solid understanding of application of contemporary industrial control systems. Strong demonstrated sense of customer service.
  • Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
  • Employees must follow all information security policies, protect confidential data, complete required training, and report any suspected security incidents to support our information security controls.
