Job description

Robotics Field Service Engineer
Value Driven Solutions (VDS) is looking for a traveling Robotics Field Service Engineer to join our interim executive bench, with this role based in [Location] and supporting client deployments across North America. The Robotics Field Service Engineer will be the hands-on technical resource on the floor - installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and training - and the bridge between OEM technical support and the client's maintenance team.
The ideal candidate will enjoy traveling and being hands-on at customer sites and have the ability to dig into a robotic cell, weigh mechanical, electrical, and controls factors, and deliver the best possible uptime outcome for the customer. The ideal candidate will apply their command of FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa, KUKA, or Universal Robots and communicate effectively with maintenance technicians, plant engineers, and OEM support.
Responsibilities:
  • Robotics deployment - Install, commission, and qualify industrial robots and robotic cells at client sites. Develop and modify robot programs (teach pendant, offline programming). Integrate end-of-arm tooling, vision systems, and conveyance.
  • Field troubleshooting - Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and controls issues on robotic systems. Travel to client sites in North America (and occasionally internationally) on short notice.
  • Training and documentation - Train client maintenance and operations teams on safe operation, troubleshooting, and PM. Document configurations, parameters, backups, and recovery procedures.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of hands-on robotics field service or integration experience
  • Programming and troubleshooting on FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa, KUKA, or Universal Robots
  • Strong electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical diagnostic skills
  • Comfort working independently at customer sites
  • Willingness to travel 50-80%
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent military / trade experience
  • OEM-issued robotics certifications, vision system integration (Cognex, Keyence), and functional safety familiarity preferred
