  • $22 Hour (Prevailing wage could be applicable)

Job Description: Flagger provides clear and positive guidance to drivers approaching traffic control zones while monitoring the flow of traffic around construction sites. The flagger's responsibilities include informing motorists of possible detour routes, identifying disobedient drivers, and answering motorists' questions. You should also be able to direct emergency vehicles safely through construction zones as required. In addition, you should have excellent communication and observation skills which will allow you to work effectively as part of a team. This also includes having proficient Safety skills, Quality workmanship and a Trustworthy reputation to provide the utmost degree of value in every task that you perform. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Using hand signals and direction signs to direct traffic around road construction sites. 
  • Communicating with other flaggers using hand-held radios to direct two-way traffic onto a single lane. 
  • Informing the construction crew of any traffic issues that may affect their safety. 
  • Appropriately positioning warning and detour signs around construction sites. 
  • Setting up barricades and traffic cones along construction sites to cordon off certain areas. 
  • Removing all signs, barricades, and traffic cones upon completion of construction work. 
  • The ability to travel to a new location upon request at any time throughout Central Hudson, Orange and Rockland and Pike territories.  
  • Avoiding the use of a cell phone while working. 
  • Parking personal vehicle outside of the work zone. 
  • Arriving on the jobsite at the designated time instructed by the foreman. 
  • The ability to stand for extended periods of time in various climates. 
  • Adhere to the safety standards as defined by Precision Pipeline Solutions, safety standards and procedures. 
  • Proper utilization of your Stop Work/Time Out Responsibility, this needs to be utilized when there is a change in work conditions that hasn't been communicated, when equipment is improperly used, or even if there is a lack of knowledge for a task that is being performed.  
  • You are required to pass the NYS Flagger certification course.

Requirements

 Qualifications: 

  • Flagger certified with at least 2 years of experience preferred 
  • Valid driver's license for at least 1 year. 
  • Must have the ability to safely operate a motorized vehicle 
  • High school diploma or equivalent  
  • Ability to climb, balance, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push and/or pull, twist and make repetitive hand movements. Ability to load, carry, lift, push and/or pull objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Sitting or standing for prolonged period of time required 
  • Effective communication skills and ability to speak clearly with team members 
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions  
  • Ability to act with integrity and respect of personal and public property   
  • Ability to work in all types of weather
