POSITION SUMMARY

In keeping with CHEO's mission statement, the vascular access resource nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating practices as it relates to the management of complex phlebotomies, peripheral lines and central lines. As an educator, the vascular access nurse facilitates knowledge transfer internally as well as externally with community partners. They will promote best practices in pediatric vascular access at CHEO and participate in the orientation of all new nursing staff ensuring consistency in practices across the organization. Working on the vascular access team is an excellent opportunity to develop a broad range of skills in a variety of pediatric clinical settings.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BScN) (Preferred)

  • Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) (Essential)

  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification (Essential)

  • Minimum one (1) year pediatric experience (Essential)

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (Essential)

  • PICC line insertion trained (Preferred)

  • Previous experience working within a Vascular Access Team (VAT) environment (Preferred)

  • Family-centered approach (Essential)

  • Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)

  • Bilingualism (English/French) (Preferred)
