Job description

Position: Registered Nurse – OR/PACU - Primarily PACU

Competition: 2026-266 (Existing)

Status: Temporary Part Time (up to 6 months with possible extension)

Department: Surgical Services

UNION: ONA

SALARY: $41.15-$58.98/Hour

Position summary:

Under the supervision of the program manager, the registered nurse in the surgical services unit is responsible for the provision of quality nursing care to a patient or group of patients. The provision of such nursing care is expected to be within the standards of nursing practice (CNO) and the standards of the nursing unit.

The registered nurse is expected to maintain competence and skills through on-going participation in provided continuing education and will be able to demonstrate proof of such participation. The registered nurse actively participates in CNO quality assurance program.

The registered nurse participates in service and hospital-wide activities and programs that model and promote a safe and healthy patient-centered environment and that contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives.

Brockville general hospital believes in strongly supporting staff to help them proceed. We offer onsite training for advanced cardiac life support (ACLS, basic life support (BLS) and pediatric advanced life support (PALS).

Requirements:

Education and experience:

  • Registered nurse and current member in good standing of the college of nurses of Ontario
  • Post anaesthesia care nursing course required
  • Post degree operating room course required
  • IV certification required
  • BCLS required and maintained throughout employment
  • ACLS and PALS certification preferred
  • Critical Care experience within the last two years preferred
  • Knowledge of ORNAC/OPANA/NAPAN standards of practice required
