Summary of Job Duties:
The Poison Control Specialist provides clinical information and treatment recommendations regarding toxic or potentially toxic exposures to healthcare providers and the public throughout the Arkansas Poison and Drug Information Center (APDIC) service region. This position also provides medication-related information, supports poison prevention education efforts, and assists with clinical documentation and follow-up activities within a fast-paced, 24/7 call center environment.
Qualifications:
  • Current Arkansas RN license

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Emergency Department (ED), Poison Control, or Critical Care experience

Additional Information:
Responsibilities:
  • Provide information, triage, and treatment recommendations regarding toxic or potentially toxic exposures to healthcare providers and the public
  • Document and maintain accurate electronic medical records related to poison exposure inquiries
  • Educate callers on toxic substances, medications, and poison prevention practices
  • Assist in the education and instruction of professional students and residents
  • Perform other duties as assigned
