About this JobDistrict 08-UNIT 248 Leesville, LA Job Number: 08/50695081/EIA-E5/5.22.26-LT District Recruitment for Vernon Parish:The overall function of this position is to assist the resident project engineer in the planning, directing, and coordination of all activities for a construction unit. This position is located in the District 08, Unit 248 in Leesville, Louisiana, of the Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to an Engineer 6, Project Engineer. The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties many times without supervision or with minimal supervision and also be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks.
While in official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives.

Job Duties and Other InformationJob Duties:- Have knowledge of current LaDOTD specifications, design guidelines, and design standards.
- Monitors erosion control plans, and hazardous waste removal.
- Have knowledge of and be able to proficiently use computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Develops and writes change orders to solve complex problems such as design errors, construction problems, and environmental concerns.
- Must be able to proficiently use computer, scanner, and copier.
- May be required to perform other duties as necessary including, but not limited to, emergency/ disaster support activities.
Position Specific:Appointment Type: Probational/Promotional
Career Progression: This position may be filled as Engineer Intern Applicant or Engineer 1-5, depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s).
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday from 7:00AM to 3:30PM.
