Job description

Job Summary and Qualifications
The RRT Extern assists Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs) in providing respiratory care to patients under direct supervision. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting while working towards becoming a licensed RRT. The RRT Extern will perform assigned duties and tasks related to respiratory therapy, contributing to the overall care and well-being of patients.

  • Assist RRTs in the delivery of respiratory care treatments and procedures.
  • Monitor patients' respiratory status and report changes to the supervising RRT.
  • Maintain and clean respiratory equipment.
  • Document patient care activities accurately and completely.
  • Participate in educational opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Assist with the administration of aerosolized medications.
  • Assist with oxygen therapy delivery and monitoring.
  • Assist with airway clearance techniques.
  • Monitor ventilator settings and patient response under direct supervision.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and cleaning.
  • Document patient treatments and observations in the electronic medical record.
  • Assist with patient transport and positioning.
What qualifications you will need:
  • No prior work experience required. Clinical rotations as part of the Respiratory Therapy program are beneficial.
  • Enrollment in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
  • NH RRT Extern License
  • Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date
