Job description

Stevenson School is a PK-12 co-educational, college-preparatory, boarding and day school with enrollment of 750 students on two campuses in beautiful Central Coast California. The Upper Division campus (Grades 9-12) is located in Pebble Beach. The Lower/Middle Divisions Campus (Grades PK-8) is in nearby Carmel-by-the-Sea. Stevenson is a mission-driven school that aims to help students shape joyful lives while instilling a passion for learning and achievement to prepare them for success in school and beyond.
Stevenson School is seeking a Remote Assistant Director of Admissions, Upper Division, for a one-year fixed term contract beginning August 1, 2026 and ending on June 30, 2027. This is a remote position. The Assistant Director of Admissions will report directly to the Director of Upper Division Admissions and assist with the recruitment and enrollment of qualified students for the Upper Division.
This is a temporary, remote, full-time non-exempt opportunity. It is a one-year fixed term contract position beginning August 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2027 and is benefits eligible.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Conduct virtual interviews with prospective students and families through the admission cycle.
  • Serve as a primary admission counselor, guiding families through the application process from inquiry through enrollment.
  • Evaluate applicant files, including academic records, recommendations, interviews, and supplemental materials.
  • Participate actively in candidate review, file reading, and admissions committee discussions.
  • Maintain regular communication with prospective families via email, phone, and virtual meetings.
  • Present virtually at admission events, webinars, and information sessions.
  • Provide support for a key aspect of admissions operations (student tour guides, CBO partnership, parent ambassador, event management, liaison with faculty/programs, etc.).
  • Collaborate with the Admissions team to support enrollment goals and yield efforts.
  • Attend weekly team meetings virtually and provide support for key events and meetings.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of one to three years of experience, working in an independent secondary school or college preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in technology systems (MS Office, Google Workspace and Zoom). Familiarity with Slate preferred
  • Strong skills and expertise in networking, marketing, and presenting
  • Effective time management skills and demonstrated ability to project manage
  • The ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse groups, including students from around the world and from underrepresented groups.

The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000 based on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, Stevenson offers a substantial benefits package including retirement plan contributions, a menu of Anthem medical plans with generous premium coverage provided by the School, vision and dental group plans, and support of ongoing professional development. Stevenson offers housing and fuel stipends for eligible employees. Meals are provided throughout the day when school is in session.
